Podcasts and Audio

We don’t tend to listen to a lot of radio in our house - but we love to listen to stuff on CD in the car. I already have posted about audiobooks, but we also like to download other ‘listens’. Here are some of our favorites:
- Radio Children is a free UK podcast. Sound quality is sometimes slightly irritating but it covers all sorts of topics and does book reviews. Click ‘Directory’ for a list of all the shows.
- Why? The Science Show for Kids Podcast. Very short (3 or 4 mins) but each one answers a science question.
- Childrens Podcast Bedtime stories (for younger children).
- Learn out Loud have free audio downloads for kids.
And if you are happy to listen at your PC (or radio!) then try
And whilst I am doing audio - the following are not free, but recommended:
- Songs for Teaching are good for children who like to learn through music. We have enjoyed Mind Games. My husband mocked me (kindly!) for trying to sneak in education this way, but a (non-musical) version of the Homonym game has become a firm favorite with the children!
- Googol Power has some good (if a bit jolly!) maths-music CDs that can be downloaded.
If you know of any more, please leave me a comment! I should love to find a current home-education podcast - does anyone know of one?
