December Reading

A little early perhaps!! I wanted to give you time to get organised! In December we like to switch our reading to books about christmas.  We have some favourites that we pull out, and I usually introduce a new book that I think we will enjoy. The Jolly Christmas Postman by Janet and Allan Ahlberg is [...]

The Toymaker

Whilst searching for something entirely different, I happened upon a great site this week. Its called The Toymaker and it has lots of printable paper toys to make. I think the Wind Boats look great fun, and I think my boy would like Florimel the Magnificent. Definitely a site to keep up your sleeve for a [...]

Podcasts and Audio

We don’t tend to listen to a lot of radio in our house – but we love to listen to stuff on CD in the car.  I already have posted about audiobooks, but we also like to download other ‘listens’. Here are some of our favorites: Radio Children is a free UK podcast. Sound quality is [...]

Just for fun

A little fun for Friday! Take a look at this website – Hema. You need to wait a moment to let the page fully load before it gets interesting!!

Informative links

There are some really wonderful websites available – perfect for home educators! Here are some I find really useful: Rudiments of Wisdom  – A cartoon encylopedia by Tim Hunkin, covering, well.. everything really! The experiments are worth a look too – the button is top right. Enchanted Learning This is a subscription site, but there [...]

Home Ed Kids Book Blog

And more science…

This isnt for the faint hearted, but perfect for halloween!! Froguts is a ‘virtual dissection’ CD. Check out the demo section – and if you can find anything more gross, I don’t want to know!!

Geography Tetris

Found a great Tetris game – using UK counties instead of shapes. Its at http://www.mapmsg.com/games/statetris/uk/ and there are other countries available too – including USA states and European countries. Great for geography. Have fun!!
