Myths and Legends retold by Anthony Horowitz. This is a retelling of 35 myths and legends from 17 cultures around the world, of which 16 are Greek. We enjoyed the stories in this book - very readable.- .

This pack has ten sheets, each with an idea or craft. I thought it was expensive for what you got - but we did actually use three or four of the ideas.

This little book was perfect for my 7 year old. Lots of picutres, big writing and just enough information. He used it a lot for his lapbook, but I dont think it would suit an older child.

- Alexander the Great

Useful short book about Alexander the Great. I am fairly sure this came in a set from the Book People called ‘Whats their story’, so it may be worth checking there.
- Cobblestone Publishing have an Ancient Civilisations theme pack available. Discover Magazine also have an Ancient Greece copy, and themed units.
Activities
- Ancient Greece Lapbook pack Downloadable pack from Homeschool Estore. This is the one we used, and it was very comprehensive. See my post on lapbooking here.
- Ancient Greek Games Lapbook Downloadable from HomeschoolEstore. We didn’t use this one but you can see a preview from the download screen.
- Greek soldiers were called Hoplites. We made hoplite shields. There are some great shield patterns on this site.

Board Games
- The Greeks play a variation on backgammon called Tavli. Details here.
- Jackstones was invented by the Ancient Greeks. Instructions here.
PC Games
- Age of Mythology by Microsoft (Free Trial Download). Do check this game out before you let your children play it, but mine enjoyed playing it in a non-violent way. It was this game that gave them their love of mythology, and inspired our projects on Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece.
